American Steve Johnson captured the Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open title this weekend in Newport, Rhode Island as he held off India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 in the final.

“It was a great week for me,” said Johnson. “I think I have my best all throughout the week. Steve was hitting some good forehands today. I think he played a good third set and got the better of me.”

Johnson entered Sunday’s final having lost just three games in his prior matches in Newport,  but dug deep to outlast first-time finalist Ramanathan for his fourth career ATP Tour title.

The American is now one of two players (Roger Federer) to win titles on two different surfaces in 2018. He also won the US Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas earlier this year.

With the title, Johnson now jumps to No. 34 in the ATP World Tour Rankings.
