Ever since its addition to the tennis world in 2017, the Laver Cup has been one of the most entertaining events on the calendar. Attracting most of the top players in the world, including Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios, and Rafael Nadal, the tournament provides a unique team atmosphere that’s rarely been mimicked before in tennis

This year, the Laver Cup was set to take place at the TD Garden in Boston, starting on the 25th of September and ending on 27th. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the rescheduling of the 2020 French Open such that it overlaps with the timeline of the Laver Cup, and there still remain so many unknowns. Subsequently, Laver Cup Chairman Tony Godsick and his committee decided to postpone the event to 2021. The tournament will still take place in Boston and will be held from September 24-26.

Although both players and fans are disappointed to hear that the Laver Cup will not take place this year, many have recognized that it is the appropriate decision considering the current situation.

“It’s unfortunate that the Laver Cup has to be pushed back a year, but at this stage it’s the right thing to do for everyone concerned,” said Federer, one of the initiators of the Laver Cup.
