McKee/Staten Island Tech advanced to the PSAL “A” Division quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon, defeating Cardozo 4-1 thanks to its singles play.

SI Tech got wins from all three of its singles players, led by Miriam Aziz’s 10-6 victory over Emily Moczulski in the first singles spot. Danielle Kezeli defeated Kristine Ngo 10-3 at second singles while Julia Balla notched a 10-4 triumph against Nikhar Rathi to lead the way for the Seagulls.

In the quarterfinals, SI Tech will take on fourth-seed Francis Lewis.

Townsend Harris knocked off Susan Wagner 4-1 to book its spot in the final eight. Rachel Zhang won 10-0 over Manuela Ngaya at first singles to put Townsend Harris on the board early, and then it was the doubles teams that helped anchor the win.

Hope Ha and Jessica Wang won 10-7 against Jillian DeGeorge and Yuki Mak at first doubles while Diana Stachula and Rhea Singh defeated Fernanda Martins and Jenna Barash 10-7 in the second doubles spot.

Townsend Harris plays third-seed Bronx Science next.

In PSAL’s “B” Division, Maspeth moved into the semifinals by beating the High School for Environmental Studies 4-1 on Thursday. Angelina Perez beat Fernanda Acevedo Cruz 10-5 in the first singles spot to lead the way for Maspeth, who will play 10th seed Grover Cleveland for a spot in the finals.

The other semifinal in the “B” Division will see top-seed Lab Museum face off against fifth-seed Bard.
