St. John’s Men, Women Continue Winning Streaks

The St. John’s men’s and women’s tennis teams each continued their respective winning streaks with victories over the weekend.

The men won for the eighth straight time with a 7-0 triumph over Saint Francis (Pa.) in a match played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Friday night.

Dusan Vukicevic and Alex Roszkowski won their match at third doubles to clinch the doubles point, and the Red Storm would win the six singles flights to complete the shutout victory.

Alan Nunez-Aguilera won his 10th singles match of the season with a 7-5, 6-1 win at second singles.

St. John’s improves to 9-3 on the season, and will travel up north to play Brown in its next contest.

The women rattled off its fourth straight victory by notching two wins over the weekend including winning its Big East opener against Villanova.

The Red Storm won five straight singles flights at one point in the match to claim the victory, led by Jessica Livianu’s  6-1, 6-1 victory in the top spot.

Later that day, St. John’s swept all seven flights to beat St. Francis (Pa.) 7-0 and improve to 10-3 on the year.

Up next for the women’s team is a road match against Penn.
