The qualifying tournament of the 2019 U.S. Open will be expanded from four days to five later this summer, beginning on Monday, August 19 and running through Friday, August 23 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The move allows more flexibility in scheduling as well as more windows to play matches in the event of inclement weather.

The qualifying tournament will feature 128 men and 128 women competing for spots in the main draws. Each main draw, men’s and women’s singles includes 16 qualifiers. Over the years, the week of the qualifying tournament has become the main attraction of the U.S. Open’s Fan Week, which features a variety of events and activities that are free and open to the public.
