American CoCo Vandeweghe has joined the field for the first Tie Break Tens tournament inside the United States, set to be held at Madison Sqaure Garden in New York City on Monday, March 5, the tournament announced on Monday.

Vandeweghe, coming fresh off a win at this weekend’s Fed Cup, joins a line-up that includes Serena and Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina and Marion Bartoli.

The final three stars set to compete will be announced soon.

Vandeweghe is currently ranked No. 17 in the world and holds two WTA titles. During the 2017 season, she reached two Grand Slam semifinals and the final of the WTA Elite Trophy in women’s singles. She also reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 18 in 2016.

“I’m so excited to take part in the first U.S Tie Break Tens tournament in my home city and see how the New York fans respond,” CoCo Vandeweghe said. “I never shy away from a challenge so I can’t wait to put myself to the test with the new fast-paced format.”

Tie Break Tens tournaments are held over one day and involve eight players competing in a knock-out format, with each match consisting of a super tie-break to ten points. Following successful tournaments in London, Vienna, Madrid and Melbourne, the Tie Break Tens all-women event will feature the tour’s top players competing for the $250,000 winner’s prize and the opportunity to raise a trophy at the iconic venue.

“With the addition of CoCo to our line-up, our first event in the United States will be a truly electrifying experience,” Felicity Barnard said. “The tournament will provide the perfect way to introduce the U.S. to Tie Break Tens’ innovative and fast-paced format, exciting the tennis community and bringing new fans into the sport.”
