The USTA Metro Region hosted its Junior Team Tennis Registration Kick-Off Party at the Billie Jean National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. this past Saturday. They had games, food and tennis clinics, as well as on-site registration for ages eight through 14. Players were able to register individually or as a team, with those registering as a team receiving personalized t-shirts with team names.

The event was a huge success for the junior program, as there was a great turnout, and kids were able to enjoy a fun time of video games, snacks, and playing on the indoor courts of the USTA Billie Jean National National Tennis Center.

“I am really happy with the turnout we had here today. This is great for our junior program here,” said USTA Metro Region President Jackie Clark. “We still have teams who will register but weren’t able to make it today. We have a great group of volunteers on our board that made this event possible.”

After registration, kids were taken out to the courts where a number of different coaches gave clinics and ran drills to help improve tennis skills. A pizza party followed the tennis activities, and all who attended enjoyed a fun night of games and tennis.

If you weren’t able to attend the kick-off party but would like to register, please visit the USTA Metro Region Web site for more information.
