Belgium’s Kim Clijsters has a tear in her hip muscle and now will require four weeks of rest and withdrawal from the WTA tour. Her management company stated that she has been plagued with hip pains throughout the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla. after losing to Yanina Wickmayer on Saturday in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(5).

Initial tests show a small torn muscle in her right hip and she now hopes to return in time for May 5th and the start of the Madrid Open. Clijsters says she plans to retire after this summer with the highlight of her year being the upcoming Summer Olympics in London.
