On Aug. 9-10, young area tennis enthusiasts participated in an event that truly put the “fun” in fundraiser, as Centercourt Athletic Club of Chatham held its first annual event to support Academy Cares at Centercourt. The event kicked off with Orange Ball and Green Dot Ball Pro/Am round-robins, where children were paired with teaching pros. All participants received a goodie bag and with prizes given away, including a K-Swiss poster autographed by the Bryan Brothers and Arthur Ashe Kids Day tickets. On day two, children enjoyed a Red, Orange and Green Dot Ball PlayDay, and in total, $4,000 was raised.

Academy Cares at Centercourt is the 501(c)3 non-profit arm of Centercourt Athletic Club. Its mission is to help provide junior tennis player training scholarships, provide travel grants to junior players and/or coaches to travel to tournaments, help provide tutoring support for tennis players and to help bring tennis to local underserved communities.

“We are thrilled with the support we received and we plan to make this an annual event,” said Clay Bibbee, managing partner of Centercourt Athletic Club. “Everyone had a great time while raising funds to help others play our great sport.”
