The Riverside Clay Tennis Association (RCTA) will host a Walkathon on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Park along the Hudson River Greenway, south of the 96th Street Red Clay Tennis courts near 95th Street. The event will raise funds and awareness for the Green Outlook, NYC’s first composting, solar-powered public restroom, along the Hudson River Greenway. After the Walkathon, there will be free tennis carnival for kids under 10 years of age at the courts from noon-2:00 p.m.

Green Outlook is a visionary model of sustainability and green technologies. Green Outlook will replace an abandoned parking lot overlooking the Hudson River with much-needed facilities. The complex will include a new green, solar-powered park maintenance building, new park land with a sweeping vista, a wildflower meadow hosting a solar array, and its signature feature: a public restroom serving users of Riverside Park, the Hudson River Greenway and the public red-clay tennis courts. The restrooms will be green-roofed, use solar power and composting technologies to create a sustainable, off-grid system. The treated compost will be used to fertilize the wild flower meadow, the ultimate form of recycling.
