Serena Surpasses Seles in Record Books

Serena Williams will spend her 178th and 179th weeks as the number one player in the world atop the WTA Women’s Singles Rankings, passing Monica Seles for fifth place all-time for weeks spent in the top spot atop the rankings.

"I never dreamed of this," said Serena. "I remember when I passed her on the Grand Slams list it was really huge for me, because when you grow up watching someone and you're thinking, 'Oh my God, oh my God, they're so awesome,' to then be on their level is just pretty amazing. I never thought it would happen. I never even thought about it, really."
