Bayside Boys Best Cardozo in League A1; Springfield Gardens Girls Hand Far Rockaway First Loss

The Bayside Commodores notched a big win over league opponent Cardozo on Monday afternoon, knocking off the Judges 4-1 in League 1A. Cardozo’s Marcus Smith opened the match up by defeating Bayside’s Michael Lopez 10-1. From there, though, Bayside won the final four matches, with the clinching one coming from Byeong Jun So and Kyle Damiao at first doubles.

The win moves Bayside to 3-1 on the season while Cardozo drops to 3-2. Other boys’ scores from Monday included:

The Springfield Gardens girls defeated Far Rockaway Monday to give Far Rockaway its first loss of the season. The Golden Eagles of Springfield won all five of the day’s matches to coast to a 5-0 victory.

The closest contest of the afternoon came at second singles as Springfield Garden’s Shannel Johnson beat Far Rockaway’s Sparkle Williams 10-8.

Springfield Gardens improves to 4-1 while Far Rockaway falls to 4-1 on the season. Other girls’ scores from Monday included:
