Townsend Comes Back to Reach US Open Qualifying Final Round

American Taylor Townsend came back from a set down to reach the third and final round of US Open qualifying on Wednesday, defeating Paraguay’s Veronica Cepede Royg 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Townsend converted on four of eight break point chances over the course of the final two sets to complete the comeback. She moves into a matchup with Serbia’s Nina Stojanovic for a spot in the US Open main draw.
