Columbia, St. John’s To Meet In NCAA Tournament First Round

Two New York City schools will battle for a place in the second round of the NCAA Tournament when Columbia and St. John’s square off at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort in the Charlottesville Regional on Friday afternoon.Â
Columbia earned a share of the Ivy League regular season title and were provided an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament, and marking its 19th appearance in the tournament in program history. The Lions have advanced to the Elite Eight in back-to-back seasons.Â
The Red Storm of St. John’s won its second straight BIG EAST tournament title with a 4-1 victory over Depaul earlier this month.Â
First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The winner advances to play the winner of Virginia and Rider.
