Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program to Host First Annual Community Combine for Youth Athletes, Sponsored by the USTA Foundation

The Harlem Junior Tennis & Education Program (HJTEP) will host its first annual HJTEP Community Combine on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the renowned Milstein Family Tennis Center at Columbia University, bringing together 100 promising student-athletes for a full day of elite training, assessment, and development.
Designed for players ages 8 to 18, the HJTEP Community Combine is a premier developmental experience that mirrors the structure and intensity of professional athletic combines. The event offers young athletes a unique opportunity to benchmark their performance, refine their skills, and gain a deeper understanding of their growth trajectory within the sport of tennis.
“This combine is more than a day of assessment, it’s a powerful moment of reflection and possibility for our players,” said Katrina Adams, President and Executive Director of HJTEP. “At HJTEP, we are committed to developing the whole child, on the court, in the classroom, and in life. This experience allows our young people to clearly see their potential, take ownership of their journey, and understand that their future is limitless.”
Event Highlights Include:
- Comprehensive Skill Assessments: Participants will be grouped by age and ability for tailored, high-level technical evaluations to ensure appropriate challenge and growth.
- Athletic Performance Testing: Players will rotate through stations measuring speed, agility, and explosive power—critical components of modern tennis performance.
- “North Star” Seminars: Interactive workshops focused on HJTEP’s core pillars—academic excellence, character development, and long-term goal setting—will be held in the Milstein Center’s meeting facilities.
- Data-Driven Progress Tracking: Each athlete will receive a personalized Combine Scorecard, offering a detailed snapshot of current performance and a roadmap for future training.
By hosting the event at a world-class venue like the Milstein Family Tennis Center, HJTEP continues to advance its mission of providing equitable access to high-quality athletic and academic opportunities.
