Jakub Mensik & Karolina Muchova are the 2026 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles champions after the all-Czech duo defeated Belinda Bencic & Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 1-6, [10-6] on Wednesday night. It’s the first Grand Slam title for either player.

The new format, introduced last year, resulted in the both the semifinals and finals played on the same night. First, Mensik & Muchova ousted the Russian pairing of Mirra Andreeva & Andrey Rublev 5-4(6), 3-5, [11-9], saving two match points when down 7-9 in the match tiebreak in the semifinals, before they turned their attention to the Swiss and Italian duo.

In the finals, the match would be decided in a tiebreak as well, and the Czechs built a 4-1 advantage. They would not relinquish their lead, and converted on their third championship point thanks to an ace from Mensik.

“It’s my first time standing here,” said Mensik. “I didn’t expect this before the tournament, but it’s such great fun. It was amazing to play and start the U.S. Open like [this].”

Muchova added:

“I think in the end, the matching outfits made the difference for us,” said Muchova jokingly. “I wasn’t really expecting to be standing here tonight. We came out just having fun and enjoyed this mixed doubles [event] and now we are standing here.”
