Two-time finalist Caroline Wozniacki made a winning return to New York on Monday night as she won 6-3, 6-2 over qualifier Tatiana Prozorova inside Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Wozniacki made her return to the professional tour this summer, competing in events in Montreal and Cincinnati before arriving at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Her win on Monday was her first here in four years, and she improves to 39-13 overall at the U.S. Open.

She advances to a tough second-round clash with 11th seed Petra Kvitova. The Czech defeated Clara Bucsa 6-1, 7-6(5) in her opener on Monday.

“Just happy to be through the first round and get that out of the way,” said Wozniacki. “Obviously it only gets tougher from here. I’m playing Petra next, someone I know very well and have played many, many times. I kind of know what to expect. I got to play better next match to beat her, but so does she. So I think it’s going to be an exciting one.”

Kvitova is 8-6 all-time against Wozniacki.
