AlphaSights, MUFG and Penguin Random House Capture Corporate League Championships

The Metro Corporate League in New York City is comprised of four total divisions: Intermediate, Advanced Intermediate, Advanced and the Hi-Five. The latter is a fun division designed more for fun, recreational play, where the former three are more competitive-based.
At the end of every season, players from all teams are invited to Roosevelt Island Racquet Club in Manhattan for the end-of-season party and finals. Held over the course of two nights, the top two teams in each of the three competitive divisions battled it out for the league championships, while players from the other teams gather to watch, and enjoy delicious food and drinks, putting a perfect end to the Winter 2026 season.
“Competing in the Metro Corporate League is a lot of fun,” said Alexandra Wojciak. “It allows people to connect in a non-business setting where they might otherwise never meet. Meanwhile, the tennis world is very small, so you are also able to spend time with people you may know very well. For example, my long-time hitting partner since childhood competes in the same division for another firm and we are able to catch-up after matches for happy hour.”
That camaraderie is at the heart of what makes the Corporate League so special for these young adults, but it’s also the competition and high-level of play that allows these players to maintain that competitive spirit.
Wojciak is the captain of the MUFG team. A year ago, in the Fall 2025 season, her team finished in last place. But that result motivated the team this time around, and MUFG captured the Advanced Intermediate Division title, and will move up into the Advanced Division next season.
“Because the match is determined by total games won across all matches, as a team we knew that we had to try out best to keep each set close, even if we were losing,” explained Wojciak. “Our opponents were very strong and we were actually down heading into the last two mixed doubles sets. In order to seal the victory, we had to win both sets by a decisive margin.”
The key to the victory? Wojciak said:
“I think our team’s chemistry was ultimately what helped us to achieve this. For example, my doubles partner and I have been working together at MUFG for four years. Our shared passion for the sport helped us win both on and off the court.”
MUFG will now compete in the Advanced Division in the Summer 2026 league. The winner of the Advanced Division this past season was AlphaSights, captained by Michelle Sorokko.

In the Intermediate Division, the team from Penguin Random House were crowned champions, as the team captained by Gianni Latorre had to pull off a comeback of its own in the finals.
“After the first two matches, we found ourselves down by five games, so we knew we had to dig deep,” explained Latoree. “We locked in mentally and focused on winning one point at a time rather than thinking about the scoreboard, and that mindset helped us claw back some of the deficit through the singles matches.”
Even so, Penguin Random House was still trailing heading into the two mixed doubles contests.
“That’s where the real difference was made. Our strategy going into those was to balance the pairings and give ourselves two strong, competitive courts. We trusted our depth as a team and it paid off. We ended up winning both matches convincingly and took the finals by six games; it was a real team effort from start to finish.”
Latorre’s team now moves into the Advanced Intermediate Division for the Summer 2026 season, and he and his team are excited for another season in the Corporate League.

“We absolutely love it. The Metro Corporate League has been such a rewarding experience on multiple levels. It’s given us the chance to connect with coworkers from our own company that we probably never would have crossed paths with otherwise, which has been a sweet bonus,” he said. “And beyond our own team, we’ve gotten to meet and compete against great people from other companies across the city. But honestly, it’s also just genuinely fun. There’s something special about being part of a competitive team at this stage of life — the camaraderie, the competition, the excuse to get out on the court every week. We’d recommend it to any working professional looking for a great outlet.”
