Brooklyn Tech Wins Season Opener

The Engineers of Brooklyn Tech won its season opener on Thursday, shutting out Midwood for a 5-0 victory to begin its spring campaign.

Last year’s runner-ups in the New York City championship match got big performances from its doubles tandems on Thursday. Alex Huynh and Jaysen Altman won 8-0 over Bryan Roytman and Matthew Tom at first doubles, while Illan Weiner and Peter Lehner won 8-0 over Jian Fu Peng and Tom Ng at second doubles to anchor the Brooklyn Tech win.

Daniel Maseyev defeated Jacob Chernov 8-4 in a competitive first singles showdown, while Jeffrey Yu and Jonathan Glinsky each won 8-0 at second and third singles, respectively, to round out the Brooklyn Tech scoring.

In Queens, Benjamin Cardozo moved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-1 triumph over Francis Lewis. Kai Yuminaga won 10-1 over Jeremy Breland at first singles and Christopher Tham defeated Waley Chen 10-0 at second singles to lead the way for the Judges.
