The St. John’s women’s tennis team has the top 2016 recruiting class amongst Big East programs, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network.

The recruiting class is based on commitments made to the program before May 23, and is a result of Jessica Livianu’s commitment to play for the Red Storm.

Livianu is a blue chip prospect out of Brooklyn and she committed to play for coach Lauren Leo and St. John’s in January.

“I am very excited that Jessica Livianu has signed with the St. John’s women’s tennis program,” said Leo. “A player of her caliber and character will definitely contribute to our goal of continued success for years to come.”

Livianu has had success on the ITF tour, reaching the round of 32 or better in four different international competitions last year, including a runner up finish in the ITF Grade II U18 Canada event in Montreal last September.

Livianu will join a St. John’s team that is returning eight of its nine players from a year ago.
