“I feel like I’m living a dream right now.”

That was what Christopher Eubanks had to say after his stunning five-set victory over fifth-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Wimbledon Championships on Monday. The Atlanta native made his Wimbledon debut just last week, and now finds himself in the quarterfinals after defeating Tsitsipas 3-6, 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

“I feel like I’m living a dream right now. This is absolutely insane,” said Eubanks. “When you paint all of the context…I’ve tried so much to just block everything out and focus on the next match, as cliché as it sounds, but this is surreal. I can’t believe it.”

In the deciding fifth set, Eubanks jumped out to the early break lead only to see Tsitsipas bring the set back on serve. But Eubanks continued to dig deep and was able to break Tsitsipas one more time, and had the opportunity to serve out the match at 5-4.

Tsistipas was able to set up break points in that game, but Eubanks refused to yield. He dialed up some of his best tennis to save those break points, and closed out the win with a blistering forehand winner that the Greek was unable to reach.

“When it came to really important times, I feel like I executed really clearly, and I played well,” said Eubanks. “I feel like I had ups and downs, which you can imagine for the first time in the fourth round of a Slam, but I came up clutch when I needed to.”

Eubanks now faces off against third-seed Daniil Medvedev for a spot in the semifinals. Medvedev led Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-2 before the Czech was forced to retire.

The other quarterfinals on the men’s side will see top-seed Carlos Alcaraz play sixth-seed Holger Rune, eighth-seed Jannik Sinner faces Roman Safiullin, and second-seed Novak Djokovic taking on seventh-seed Andrey Rublev.
