The St. John’s Red Storm snapped a five-match losing streak over the weekend, defeating Binghamton and Niagra at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Friday.

St. John’s played Binghamton first and took care of the Bearcats with a 6-1 victory.

The match was clinched at fifth singles when Red Storm sophomore Freddy Ruis defeated Frenk Kote of Binghamton 6-3, 6-4. St. John’s won five of the six singles matches after clinching the doubles point.

After the win over Binghamton, St. John’s cruised past Niagra 7-0. The Red Storm won eight of the nine contests overall, one of the doubles matches went unfinished, and dropped just one set over the course of those nine matches.

The Red Storm will be back in action at home this weekend when it takes on Pennsylvania and Yale.

The Adelphi men’s tennis team returned to its winning ways with a 9-0 rout of Le Moyne College at Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside on Saturday. The Panthers dropped just one set in the nine matches to snap a three-game losing streak and move to 3-3 overall on the season.

At third singles, Max Peara rolled past Yeshiva’s Adam Wannon 6-0, 6-0. It was one of the five victories Fordham notched in singles play as it improved to 3-7 on the season.
