RecycleBalls Surpasses 15 Million Tennis & Padel Balls Recycled, Redefining Sustainability in the Sport

February 19, 2025 | By Press Release

RecycleBalls is proud to announce it has diverted more than 15 million tennis balls from landfills. This remarkable achievement comes on the heels of new partnerships with Laykold, Racquet Sports Professionals Association, and recognition by the U.S. Department of Energy, spotlighting RecycleBalls’ innovation in circular solutions.

Founded on a commitment to make sports more sustainable and prolong the life of every tennis ball, RecycleBalls offers a simple, accessible collection program: easy-to-use courtside bins and practical shipping solutions for tennis facilities and players across the country. By collecting and disassembling used balls, the organization reclaims both the felt and rubber, transforming potential waste into new materials for various uses, including horse arena footing. The partnership with Laykold offers a path for balls to stay in the game by being recycled into tennis courts.

“Hitting 15 million tennis balls recycled underscores how our collective efforts—from volunteers to facility managers—can drastically reduce waste and usher in a greener era for tennis,” said Erin Cunningham, CEO of RecycleBalls. “We’re grateful for the Department of Energy’s recognition of our approach to circularity, which helps put tennis at the forefront of sustainable sports innovation.”

Embracing a “reuse, repurpose, and recycle” philosophy, RecycleBalls cultivates a national network of more than 1,000 facilities and 2,000 volunteers that actively champions sustainability in tennis. For more information, visit www.recycleballs.org
