Ross School Tennis Center Welcomes In Richele LeSaldo As New Tennis Director

This spring, the Ross School Tennis Center ushered in a new era as Richele LeSaldo was named the program’s tennis Director. LeSaldo will oversee one of the cornerstone athletic programs at the historic East Hampton institution.

“Richele is an extraordinary leader whose experience spans elite competition, academy development, and community-building,” said Tom Sturtevant, Head of School at Ross. “Throughout our search, it was clear we were looking for someone who could both honor the strength and momentum of our current program and elevate it to new heights. Richele brings the strategic vision, global perspective, and student-centered philosophy that will allow the Ross Tennis Center to thrive whether a student is picking up a racquet for the first time or preparing to compete at the collegiate level.”

LeSaldo enters the position with a wealth of both playing and coaching experience. A native of Barbados, she earned a scholarship to Clemson University where she helped lead the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament Final Four appearances. She was also the team’s captain which helped foster valuable leadership skills.

Those skills translated into a coaching career which began in upstate New York when she became an assistant coach for Cornell University. In addition, she has been a national talent scout for the brand Yonex, so she has a keen sense of the junior tennis scene across the country.

“I have real hands-on experience of what’s trending, what colleges are looking for, and so I bring all of that knowledge here to Ross to help build on what we already have here,” LeSaldo said. “It’s exciting, because I think what we’re striving to do here at Ross is be a welcoming home for recreational and community players, but also be a launching pad for those aspiring to play college tennis and even professional tennis. That’s what we’re trying to accomplish here.”

The process of LeSaldo taking over the Ross School’s Tennis Director position began towards the end of 2025, when an industry colleague brought up the opportunity and recommended LeSaldo for the role. After discussions with Sturtevant and other board members, and seeing the vision of the school, LeSaldo felt confident that this was the place she wanted to work, and the leadership at Ross School knew she was the right fit.

In her position, LeSaldo is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s tennis program, including coaching, player development, college recruitment, team management, staff leadership, and facility operations. The role also includes guiding tournaments, daily training, and summer programming while fostering a vibrant and inclusive tennis culture aligned with Ross School’s mission and values.

“I am honored to join Ross School and lead the Tennis Center at such an exciting moment,” said LeSaldo. “Ross has a lasting commitment to its student athletic development, and I believe tennis is a powerful vehicle for building confidence, resilience, and joy. My goal is to create an environment where every student, regardless of level, feels supported, challenged, and inspired. I look forward to working with our talented coaches, connecting with families, and helping our student-athletes reach their full potential.”

The Ross School Tennis Center is open to the public with adult programs, private and group lessons, as well as court rentals. The sprawling campus includes six Har-Tru courts that are enclosed by a bubble during the fall and winter months which allows year-round play for all levels of play.

“We have some really good players here, and a very strong tennis community in the surrounding areas, so I am very excited and encouraged to join this environment of excellence,” LeSaldo concluded.
