Three Americans Qualify for Main Draw at Roland Garros

Of the 18 American players to compete in the 2012 French Open Qualifying Tournament, three players earned a position in the main draw. On the men’s side, Florida resident Jesse Levine secured a spot in his first French Open, defeating France’s Marc Gicquel, 6-2, 6-4 in the third and final round. Jesse will face Benjamin Becker from Germany in the first round of the 2012 French Open.
On the women’s side, Lauren Davis and Alexa Glatch were the only American qualifiers to make it through to the main draw. After losing the first set 1-6, Davis bounced back to defeat fellow American Julia Cohen in three sets. Glatch was able to seal a victory in a much more timely fashion, winning 6-2, 6-4 against Sesil Karatantcheva of Kazakhstan. Davis will face the German Mona Barthel in the first round, while Glatch will take on Anna Tatishvilli of Georgia.
