A week after reaching the first ATP quarterfinals of his career on Long Island at the New York Open, young American Frances Tiafoe won the first tour-level title of his career by capturing the title at the Delray Beach Open with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk in Sunday’s final.

“I was not expecting this this week, especially with how the year started and everything. It’s unbelievable,” said Tiafoe. “It’s obviously a dream to win your first title. Now I got that off my back so that feels pretty good, so early in my career. It’s an amazing feeling and I just hope I can get many more as I go along.”

Tiafoe, 20, is now the youngest American to win an ATP World Tour title since Andy Roddick won the Houston title in 2002 at 19-years-old.

In the doubles final, Americans Jack Sock and Jackson Withrow defeated fourth-seed Nicholas Monroe and John-Patrick Smith 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 on Sunday.

The two Nebraska natives and childhood friends were happy to take home the title, the first in Withrow’s career:

“It’s something that I’ve always planned on doing and pictures doing,” said Withrow. “It do it with him, it makes it more special, for sure.”
