Tip of the Week: Try As Hard As You Can

This could be the most obvious tip I have ever written. If you want to be a good player and understand what competition is, you have to try your best on every point. This means going through your basic routine, preparing to play the point, running after every ball, and then doing it again regardless of the score and what has just happened.

Unfortunately, this is more difficult than it sounds.

It is human nature to get frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged if things are not going well and the score is in the opponent’s favor. Try to take each shot, each point, and each game, one at a time. If you can stay in the moment and put a few good shots, points, and games together, that will go a long way towards winning the match. Think about giving your best for each individual part of your game: your hitting, your thinking, and your competing.

Try as hard as you can and you will be amazed at the things you can accomplish on and off the tennis court.
